Can These Dry Bones Live Again?
A valley of dry bones, and the uncomfortable detail in the middle of it: the bones stayed dead until somebody opened their mouth. God had the power, but He worked it through a man who was willing to speak to a situation that looked finished. Everything God does, He does through people. The second half is Lazarus — Martha telling Jesus she knew her brother would rise “at the last day,” and Jesus refusing to let her file it under someday. I am the resurrection and the life. It’s a habit worth noticing in ourselves: pushing God’s promises into the future, where they cost us nothing to believe. He asked her a direct question first. Do you believe this?
