Victory Week: Night 5

Nehemiah rebuilt Jerusalem’s wall against constant opposition — mockery, threats, a fake prophecy meant to frighten him into hiding. The observation this message draws out is that the attacks got worse as the wall got higher. Nobody minds you starting at the bottom; it’s when they see you rising that the trouble begins. So don’t read opposition as evidence you’ve stepped outside God’s will. Sometimes it means you’re exactly where He put you. There’s a second word here about position: the work of building God’s kingdom is the same work whether anyone can see you doing it or not, and seeking the place rather than seeking God is the wrong way round. Do the job in front of you, and let Him do the lifting.
