Victory Week: Night 7

On the anointing — what it is, and why it isn’t just excitement. Luke 4 is the text: the Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me. The anointing accomplishes things — boldness to speak, freedom for people who are bound, sight for the blind. There’s honesty here about why some people don’t expect God to move: they’ve only ever seen dead religion, so a room full of response looks like emotion to them. Acts 10 is the picture, the Holy Spirit interrupting Peter mid-sermon. God isn’t waiting to be persuaded. He wants to meet with you more than you want to meet with Him.
