Vision Sunday

Why belonging to a church matters, worked from the parable of the sower. Four soils, four ways people receive the word: snatched away before it’s understood, sprouting fast and withering when trouble comes, choked by worry and the pull of money, or rooted deep and bearing fruit thirty, sixty, a hundredfold. The difference isn’t the seed. Getting saved is easy; staying saved is what needs help — knowing how to pray, how to stand when a trial hits, how to keep going when it costs something. That’s what being pastored is for. The picture is a tree planted in the house of the Lord: trees don’t get up and move, and roots are what let anything survive a hard season.
